The Impact of Repetetive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) Treatment on Borderline Personality Disorder Symptoms: A Case Report

Abstract
Increasingly used in recent times, repetetive Transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is a noninvasive brain stimulation used in the treatment of major depressive disorder with treatment resistance. Although it is approved in the treatment of major depressive disorder, it can also be applied in the treatment of various mental disorders. Borderline personality disorder is an important mental disorder due to severe functional loss and recurrent suicidal behavior. Studies suggest that the brain may be activation of BPD disorder occurring in some areas. In this report, rTMS is applied to a case with impulsive control disorder and recurrent suicide attempts. We recommend rTMS as a new alternative treatment in the management of BPDs symptoms due to positive progress in our case.
